First-fruits
First-fruits were the first or choicest produce of the land, offered to God in gratitude and acknowledgment that the harvest came from Him. They included grain, fruit, dough, and other products, and were connected with Israel’s appointed feasts.
Biblical Usage
Israel offered a sheaf after Passover, loaves at Pentecost, and harvest produce at Tabernacles. Individuals also consecrated part of their first-fruits, and the offerings generally belonged to the priest after the appointed presentation.
