PARCHED
“Parched” describes roasted grain or pulse, dried or arid land, and intensely glowing ground or air. Parched grain was a common food and could be carried as a convenient provision.
Biblical Usage
Parched grain or pulse appears as food, an offering, a provision for travelers and armies, and a gift. The term also describes dry land and the glowing, wavering air associated with heat and mirages. Prophetic imagery contrasts such glowing sands with real pools in a future restoration.
