PASSION, PASSIONS
“Passion” can mean Christ’s suffering, ordinary human feeling, or strong and sinful desire. Biblical usage therefore ranges from the sufferings of Jesus to emotions and uncontrolled lusts.
Biblical Usage
In Acts 1:3, passion refers to Christ’s suffering. In Acts 14:15 and James 5:17, people are described as having like passions or the same nature and emotions. In later New Testament usage, passion can describe strong emotion, sinful desire, or lust.
