PAULUS, SERGIUS
Sergius Paulus was the Roman proconsul of Cyprus when Paul and Barnabas preached at Paphos. After witnessing God’s judgment on Elymas and hearing the gospel, he believed.
Biblical Usage
At Paphos, Sergius Paulus listened to Paul and Barnabas. Elymas attempted to turn him from the faith, but divine judgment left the sorcerer blind. Sergius Paulus believed when he saw what happened and was astonished at the Lord’s teaching.
