Pearl
A pearl is a highly valued gem from an oyster or similar shellfish. In the New Testament it illustrates great value, and the gates of the heavenly Jerusalem are described as pearls.
Biblical Usage
In the New Testament, pearls represent things of great value and are used in the comparison of the kingdom of heaven with a pearl of great price. They also appear in warnings about giving valuable things to those who will not value them, and in the description of the gates of the heavenly Jerusalem.
