
Jacob Moves to Egypt
After learning that Joseph was alive, Jacob and his family traveled to Egypt and settled there in the land of Goshen (Genesis 46:5-7). This marked the beginning of the Israelites living in Egypt (Genesis 47:11).
Joseph Reveals Himself to His Brothers
After testing his brothers and seeing that they had changed, Joseph revealed his identity to them and forgave them for selling him into slavery (Genesis 45:4-5). Joseph told them that God had used their actions to save many lives during the famine (Genesis 45:7).
Joseph's Brothers Go to Egypt
During the famine, Joseph's brothers traveled to Egypt to buy grain, but they did not recognize Joseph, who was now a ruler in Egypt (Genesis 42:6-8). Joseph tested his brothers and required them to bring their youngest brother Benjamin (Genesis 42:15). This event began the process of reconciliation between Joseph and his brothers.
