
Solomon Becomes King
When King David was old, his son Adonijah tried to declare himself king, but David instructed that Solomon be anointed as king instead (1 Kings 1:32-35). Solomon became king of Israel and established his rule after David's death (1 Kings 2:12).
David and Bathsheba
King David committed adultery with Bathsheba and arranged for her husband Uriah to be killed in battle (2 Samuel 11:14-17). The prophet Nathan confronted David, and David repented, but the event brought consequences to his family and kingdom (2 Samuel 12:13-14).
David Becomes King
After the death of Saul, David was first made king over Judah and later king over all Israel (2 Samuel 5:3). David established Jerusalem as the capital and strengthened the kingdom of Israel (2 Samuel 5:7).
