Joseph Interprets Pharaoh's Dreams
Pharaoh had troubling dreams that no one could interpret, but Joseph interpreted them as seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine (Genesis 41:29-30). Pharaoh placed Joseph in charge of Egypt to prepare for the famine (Genesis 41:41).
Joseph in Egypt (Potiphar and prison)
Joseph served in Potiphar's house and prospered, but after a false accusation he was imprisoned (Genesis 39:20). Even in prison, God was with Joseph and he gained favor and responsibility (Genesis 39:21-23). Joseph interpreted the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker (Genesis 40:8).
Joseph Sold into Egypt
Joseph, the favored son of Jacob, was hated by his brothers and sold into slavery to traders traveling to Egypt (Genesis 37:28). His brothers deceived their father into believing Joseph had been killed (Genesis 37:31-33). This event began Joseph's journey that would eventually lead to the preservation of his family.
